Coronavirus Response Update - March 22nd

Posted by Jeremy Woody on OP5er @ 5:32 PM

RCS Family,

The school doors towards the cafeteria will be unlocked tomorrow from 7:00a - 9:00a and 3:00p - 5:00p. Most, if not all, elementary classes have things to be picked up. All HS information is on Gradelink. Mr. Thomas has also made his work available to be picked up but it isn't necessary.

We have been hard at work clarifying our instruction on Gradelink Teacher Pages. Those improvements include:

  • Trying as much as possible to put everything on Teacher Pages and reducing the amount of emails you are receiving from teachers.
  • Working to make the information on Teacher Pages more user-friendly.
  • Posting all work on Monday for the week.
  • Separating out work into daily portions.
    • We are posting 4 days worth of work each full week.
    • Days will labeled by number rather than day name so that it fits your schedule.

We have also heard from families of High Schoo students asking of their students' email addresses and cell phone numbers could be added so that they can receive communication directly. If you would like your student added, please fill out this Student Personal Contact Information Form. This information from this form will only be used for Gradelink communications.

You will find that more classes are using Loom videos to instruct and connect with students. If you have any problems with any links, please email your teacher.

I have asked the teachers to have their pages live by 8:00a tomorrow, unless you hear from them specifically. Many of those pages are live now. We have spent the last 8 days working on the logistics of curriculum and instruction and we will continue to work to improve in these areas. Thank you for your patience with us as we have had to figure a lot of things out this past week.

But now I am shifting gears to the part that I would like to think sets us apart as a school. The care for our students and their families. I can only imagine what effect the isolation and fears from this outbreak are already having on people. Moving into this week, we are working on ways to interact with our students and their families in more "face-to-face" ways while we practice social distancing. I will be back tomorrow by email with more announcements towards that goal.

love God, love others, start at home,

Mr. Jeremy Woody
